Preceding our 3 year anniversary bash next Friday at Paradiso we've asked one of our guests from Detroit, Keith Worthy, a couple of questions through e-mail.

How - and when - exactly did you got in touch with electronic music?

My first experiences originate back to hanging out in Detroit (such as the Music Institute, The City Club, Taboo, Joey's and Cliche') - the music that Detroiters were exposed to back then was far far ahead of it's time, even by today's standards thanks to the original architects like Derrick May, Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, Blake Baxter, Suburban Knight, Alton Miller and of course The Electrifying Mojo! Fortunately for me, one of Detroit's great Producer/DJs, Duane "In the Mix" Bradley took me under his wing and allowed me to develop as DJ, so I am sort of an offspring from these beginnings.

You've been spinning records for years, when did you start making music? What made you decide to start your own record imprint too?
I started experimenting with music in 2005 (my first production release was the track Ecoutez on the "In the Dark Compilation" - Still Music).
I started Aesthetic Audio towards the end of 2006, because I did not want to leave the fate and direction of my music in other peoples hands, and I liked the Emotional Content e.p. as the first release. Even though loads of artists write & sing flowery songs about this industry being about love and unity, this is not always the case. And I trust my direction 100%.

We all know about Detroit's annual music festival in May, but how's the cities scene like during the rest of the year?
When it's good, it's really good. When it's not, it's not nearly as good.

With new emerging artists from Detroit such as Omar S, Patrice Scott, Kyle Hall and yourself it seems as if Detroit's musical heritage is safe to say the least. Are there any others you think we should keep en eye open for?
Thanks for the very nice words, but you can't ever forget Scott Grooves, Mike Huckaby, Rick Wade, Rick Wilhite, Piranhahead, Malik Pittman, Carl, Kenny, and Theo. There is so much talent in the D, some people have not even done their thing yet. To answer your question, make sure to check for Kevin Reynolds and Kris Wadsworth.

What are your future plans for Aesthetic Audio?
I am still focused on the labels quality for sure, but I'm very excited about the six new Aesthetic Audio releases scheduled for this year, including the next release, "Moments in Rhythm Vol 2" by myself (out in March 2010), a new website with Aesthetic Audio merchandise to assist with expanding the brand, and a dope compilation album. Also, I have been getting many requests for Podcast mixes, so I am also getting on that bus too to keep the people moving.

During our anniversary party next weekend you will play a three hour set back to back with Patrice Scott. What can we expect? Will it be different from what you usually play when you deejay alone?
First of all, thanks for having me again! This time around, I am in a very good place mentally speaking. I'm excited about the future, and your party will be the first time that I get to bump the new Aesthetic stuff for people, but Patrice and I will have fun beating it up together Detroit style!
